This is for all of the moms who feel like they aren’t enough.
This is for all of the moms who feel like they’re letting their kids down by not staying home.
This is for all of the moms who feel like they’re are selfish for pursuing their own goals.
I am here to tell you that as long as your kids are safe, encouraged and loved you are doing enough. You are not perfect. No one is. The fact that you are worrying about how you are doing is a very strong indicator that you are doing better than you think.
It is true that studies show that kids with stay-at-home parents develop a little more quickly, especially in those early years. However, comparing your children to other children is not only unfair to you but it’s unfair to children.
What is success?
What does success in a parent look like?
What does success in your child look like?
Does it mean you are a success if your child walks first or talks first or knows their ABCs before they start preschool?
Does it mean that your child isn’t a success if they don’t?
When your child grows up does it mean that your child is a success if they are a doctor but they treat others like dirt because they know they are smarter some?
Does that make you successful as a parent?
Let me say it again. Comparing your children to other children is not only unfair to you but it’s unfair to children.
I’ll let you determine what success looks like. I know I have an idea of what it looks like for me.
A word of encouragement
Moms,
Are you encouraging your children?
Are you providing them with a safe a stable home? If you aren’t a stay-at-home mom, are you taking them somewhere that offers a safe and stable environment?
Do you make sure that they know they are loved?
I think if you are doing those things, you will be successful and so will your children.
